In 2020, I visited the motherland continent for the first time in life. I went on a solo trip to Kumasi, Ghana.
The Acclimatised Foreigner is one of the final paintings in the series, where after being in Ghana for over 2 weeks, I was starting to feel a lot more comfortable after intially feeling overwhelmed. Going on a trotro alone wasn’t so terrifying anymore. The evening electricity blackouts facilitated good conversations with my friends as we gazed at the stars. The sun no longer felt like a scorching ball of fire. Africa was starting to feel like home.
